Finger licking good. Seriously ... since I got this delivered from DoorDash it came with foil and the fork can't glide on the foil without penetrating it takes a finger to get into it all. Real talk. This was amazing! I'll be back for the Southwest Halibut with polenta
If I'm not mistaken this is located in Santa Cruz. Off the beaten path near the harbor, walking distance to the Capitola waterfront, unassuming restaurant bar, Their fish and chips and burgers were very good.
They have Fresh caught fish for today . They kept the scale on fish so you can tell. Although a little bit annoying but we enjoyed rest of other parts. We order sea bass and snapper. I like the snapper a lot. Salad is a big portion that enough for 3 of us. We drove long way to get this restaurant, very relax ambiance feeling seating next to the harbor. Enjoyed the local wine list too. You should come try it.
Fresh oysters with horseradish sauce + vinaigrette + lemon juice sourced from H&H Seafood Market on the ground floor (restaurant upper floor.) I didn't see happy hour oyster specials but good value for $33 for a dozen!
Honestly Johnny's Harborside provides a lot of delicious options to choose from. We opted for the clam chowder, Fried Calamari, shrimp scampi (sadly didn't take a photo ) & the burger. The clam chowder was warm and delicious, The fried calamari's batter was rich and delicious however it wasn't as crispy as we wanted it to be still good. But the clear winner here was that burger, MY GOODNESS was it super delicious you could taste the freshness of it, you have the option to choose from fries or a salad as your side and you could never go wrong with a side of fries lol we came during lunch time and it wasn't as loud or busy which was great. We sat near a window and could see out to the dock that's always a plus. Our server was on top of everything and was constantly checking in on us to make sure everything was good ( ask for Caleb ) over all my fiancée and I really enjoy dinning here!!
The most recommended: seared black cod. The seared black cod I had was nothing short of spectacular. Cod remained wonderfully moist and flaky. Each bite melted in my mouth, releasing layers of subtle, buttery flavors that cod is renowned for. Accompanying the black cod was a serving of polenta, which was a delightful new experience for me. The polenta was incredibly soft and creamy, with bits of corn kernels that intriguingly resembled the texture of fish roe. Its gentle, comforting flavor balanced beautifully with the fish. Alongside, the spinach was prepared to juicy perfection, maintaining a vibrant green color and a fresh, slightly earthy taste that paired excellently with the rest of the dish. This combination not only highlighted the seafood's freshness but also brought a satisfying richness to the meal.
